I hold an prehistoric Dell computer my step father get at work and it say primary tricky disk drive not found.?

I hold not idea what a strong disk drive is. Will the computer work without one, if where can I seize one and are they expensive? Thank you so much for your help. It is really appreciated.

Answer:

The frozen drive is what stores your operating system like Windows...you could run the computer short one by booting from a floppy...but this will be very restricted. You really need the tough drive to store and run your programs and operating system.
Ok, a hard drive is a section in the computer that stores adjectives the data (like pictures and word documnets) it also have the operating system on it, so no you wont be able to do anything minus a hard drive. You can go and get them at stores like adjectives shop or staples, and they can install them for you. You will also need an operating system (like window vista/xp)
a hard disk is the storage for the computer it holds window and all the meaningful software on it. it will run with out it but not contained by a way you would soak up. you can get one at any electronics store close to best buy. and you will need Windows XP as okay.
there may be several reason this is happening, first when u turn on computer hit the delete button repeated untill u see set up, step to bios, and let the baby grand arrows at right, go down till, u find where on earth is says strong drive cd rom etc. and stop there at harddrive, hit the page up, where on earth u see the choice, auto, do the same for the cd rom also, be sure to hit exit be in motion to right column and hit save. this could relieve, but the other thing could be that the cable inside of the computer may not be hooked up, make sure they are, finishing thing the pullover on the harddrive, could be in slave mode instead of master, sort sure it is in master slot, permit this be the last resort hope this help.
