Vista has an ethernet driver that should automatically detect and control the Apple ethernet hardware short your having to find or install anything else. If it fail to connect, it is more likely a problem near configuring the Vista system. There should be a troubleshooter in Vista to relieve get it straightened out. The Mac OS X system is preset by failure to pay for a DHCP ethernet connection so unless you enjoy DSL that connects by PPPoE, it just works. Windows will hold an Internet Connection Wizard or whatever the topical name is for it that launch during installation of Vista. It is not as intuitive as the Mac setup since it sometimes gets you into a peak to enter your area code even though you want to connect by ethernet but most ancestors can struggle through it.
