I get a permissible laptop near WinNT...how do I reformat firm drive so I can start over?

I want to put XP on but entail to reformat my whole tough drive. When I put in reformat c: it say volume needs to be unmounted. Tell me what to do to take to a point where I can install a endorsed copy of XP.


Answer:

First download this Gparted Live CD partitoner. http://www.lifehacker.com/software/parti... Then burn it to a cd. Boot from it and use it to reformat the drive. Make sure you reformat contained by the NTFS file format. Then restart the computer and boot from the XP disk. Then follow the instructions and it should install.
If you enjoy a Windows XP cd, just boot to it and the setup process will agree to you repartition or reformat the drive.
You can't format the hard drive c: while you are running window, you should restart the computer while placing the CD within the CD drive later it will boot from the CD and you may follow the onscreen instructions.
