I own a Sony Vaio PCG-K15 laptop, and I recently have a new thorny drive installed but the recovery disc singular downloads 1/2 way.Sony no longer have the recovery disc. Can I only just re-installed windows XP and next download the software to the rest of the programs? Or is there a place to acquire a copy of the disc?
Answer:
You can do a fresh install of XP but it probably will ask you for some drivers like RAID etc...so contained by turn you will probly need an external floppy drive to nouns them ( get one from WAL MART and embezzle it back)..
go to SOny's webpage and it should provide you help on what drivers and controllers you entail to install..
I hope this helps
If you hold a cd with window xp on it, try that first. But you probably won't be able to register window and after 30 days it will expire and you will be back at square one. You will probably enjoy to go to Microsoft.com and purchase a spanking new windows xp disc which will run you around $100 or more. It may be cheaper if you already hold a windows xp disc but it won't register, to install that, consequently buy a new product push button from Microsoft. They will also send you a clean xp disc in the messages. I just have to do this a month ago. Once you get window installed, you can download all the drivers needed for your laptop on Sony.com.
since its a modern HDD simply reload windows xp after add your software you need to put on the computer it will make time alot easier.
